A commission by electronic musician Mr O, for his debut EP release entitled Sinister/Sly. Mr O was specific about wanting a hand draw industrial image, with a devil character. After playing around with concepts, I felt a hard graphite pastel was the appropriate tool to start with. I used Photoshop to composite the image layers, adding a rubbing of an old coin, and creative common image of a factory wall. Mr O’s music can often include hard industrial sounds, so the central ‘o’ of the cog can also be seen as a rough blade. The font is also hand written by myself.
